I have always thought that I would like to adopt an adorable Pomeranian puppy! They are small, fluffy little dogs, and believe me, Pomeranian puppies are absolutely beautiful. Of all the puppies at Petland Naperville, they are ones that have a ton of energy. A Pet Counselor can guide you with regards to exploring adopting a Pomeranian and if that is a good fit for your family.
Pomeranians are small dogs with a lot of energy. They love to play and to be the center of attention, but can be aggressive to other dogs (perhaps a little bit of “tiny dog syndrome?”). They like to defend their environment by barking, and if left untamed, they may start to bark at anything and everything! They are also smart little dogs, and do well with consistent training. In fact, if not trained properly, Pomeranians can have a way of getting virtually anything that they want from their owners (kind of like the owner being wrapped around the dog’s little paw!). They love to be the center of attention, but you have to be careful that they don’t take that attention to mean that they can be mean in order to get it.
Like most small dogs, Pomeranians have a long life expectancy—12-16 years. Their ancestors came from the Arctic regions. That explains their thick double coat! Because of their thick double coats, Pomeranians shed quite a lot. It’s a good idea to brush a Pomeranian every day. This daily ritual gives you and your Pomeranian some great bonding time. While they shed some fur daily, they also shed sufficiently more two times per year. During those times, you may want to take your dog to a groomer and let him or her do the hard work!
I learned one of the most fascinating bits of trivia about these adorable Pomeranian puppies—two Pomeranians that were on the Titanic actually survived the sinking of the ship on lifeboats! (Their owners also escaped that night with them.) Who knew?
Pomeranians are active dogs. The good news is that they are small enough that they can get their daily exercise inside a home if needed. They do like to run around and it is always a good idea to have a home with a fenced yard.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the Pomeranian puppy. I was glad to have a Pet Counselor who knew all about Pomeranians help me to discover this breed of dog. I love the fact that it is incredibly soft and hairy, loyal, and good with people. I absolutely love that they can come in many color combinations. I would love to adopt an adorable Pomeranian puppy, and I recommend this breed to anyone with a family. When you are ready to add a new puppy to your family, I would highly recommend that you go to Petland Naperville to find one.
